 Gudo Wafu Nishijima

Dogen Sangha is a Buddhist group based in Tokyo. We follow the teachings of Master Dogen, a 13th  century Japanese monk, and offer the opportunity to practice Zazen and learn about Buddhism based on the guidance of our founder Gudo Wafu Nishijima

We hold weekly meetings on Saturdays at the Young Buddhists Association in Tokyo. We also hold a Four-day retreat each September at Tokei-in Temple in Shizuoka (photos 2005).

Some of Gudo Nishijima's students have started Buddhist groups outside Japan. You can find more information on our overseas groups page.

Gudo Nishijima roshi retired from lecturing in 2005, and now devotes his time to his writing. He also publishes a blog about Buddhism and current events, which you can visit at http://gudoblog-e.blogspot.com/ Nishijima roshi also made a short video demonstration about "how to practice zazen" and "the meaning of zazen". You can watch these on our videos page.

The newly revised third edition of "To Meet The Real Dragon"by Gudo Nishijima and Jeffrey Bailey is now available from www.lulu.com and Amazon.com

"Face au vrai dragon"- the French translation of "To Meet the Real Dragon" can be ordered from Michel Proulx.
